Individuals vs Species

So the website keeps not working for me, but what passages specifically indicate that the protectors are individual? There's the inheritance bit, but I also read something at some point (I think it was the Protector of Fire's page?) that used the term in a much more generic sense. Just quote some stuff at me.

If they are individuals, I guess we'll make this a group page? Since it would seem to be a title more than anything else. -- Dorek Talk External Image 21:08, 27 November 2014 (CET)

I'm looking through the website right now, and it doesn't specifically say the protectors are individuals, but it seems to imply that. Every protector bio has this on it:

"The Protectors wear sacred Elemental Masks that have been passed down through the generations from father to son along with the Prophecy of Heroes, which foretells the coming of Tahu and his allies. In their wisdom, the Protectors must guide the heroes on their quest."
— BIONICLE.com Protector Bios

They also have info on the protector masks, which furtherly implies the protectors to be individuals.

"Forged by Ekimu ages ago and passed on through the generations."
— BIONICLE.com Protector Bios

Transmission

"The masks and the position are inherited by the Protector's offspring"

Where does that come from? I have only seen "passed on through generations" on BIONICLE.com, and that leave several others interpretations (a new Protector is elected at the death of the previous one/a contest is held to determine who is the most able to protect the village and the winner get the mask and the title). --maxim21 11:04, 25 January 2015 (CET)

The above quote, the first one. I was hesitant to word it that way as well, but they're definitely implying a lineage. -- Dorek Talk External Image 18:56, 25 January 2015 (CET)

Ancient Protectors

So...should we change the Protector listing to accomodate the new names revealed in Battle of the Mask Makers?--Wiriamu (talk) 21:39, 29 April 2016 (CET)

I think we should hold off a little bit until we get some clarification. It's possible that these names are ALL legit; given how lineage works, they could just be the offspring/parents of the former Protectors already mentioned. Say Narmoto dies now; they aren't going to throw out the entire council because of that. He just needs a successor. -- Dorek Talk External Image 21:45, 29 April 2016 (CET)

Just a thought

Given their proactive role compared to other Okotans and their association with Ekimu, does anyone else feel that it might be good to add Chronicler's Company to the See Also list for this page?--Wiriamu (talk) 06:32, 13 July 2016 (CET)

Eh... at some point I think G2 needs to stand on its own. Not everything is a reference to something, I like to say. The Turaga analogy is apt, but Chronicler's Company is pushing it. -- Dorek Talk External Image 06:57, 13 July 2016 (CET)

Do the Protectors have elemental powers in their bodies?

Hi. I have a question: The Protectors have masks that have elemental powers, but do the Protectors have elemental powers in theri bodies? I mean, Narmato, the Protector of Fire, in the second Webisode created a fire-ball with his hand. It is said that his Flame Swords can "channel his Fire powers". Did Narmato use his mask to create the fire-ball? Do the swords channel his mask's powers or his body's? (The preceding unsigned comment was made by Lenny7092)
