This is a combiner model introduced in 2001, portraying Toa Kaita Akamai.

Set Information

Akamai can be built by combining parts from 8531 Pohatu, 8532 Onua, and 8534 Tahu using instructions distributed between the manuals of the three sets. A total of 99 pieces are used in the model.

The three sets were released on LEGO Shop in the UK as part of K8534 Toa Kaita Akamai, which also included 8530 BIONICLE Masks. They were also included in 65129 "Toa 3-Pack 1" during 2002.

Features

Turning a gear on Akamai's lower back causes his legs to move forwards or backwards. This gear function is anchored by a ball joint, providing sturdy poses and preventing Akamai's legs from slipping when standing.

Akamai also has two gears on his upper back, each of which can be turned to swing its respective arm.

Collectibles

Akamai wears a red Kanohi Hau, which represents the Kanohi Aki.
