"Tell me, Tahu, have you ever really looked at this Makuta stone? It is no ordinary rock gathered from the beach of Mata Nui. No, it is far more than that. It is ... a reminder."

The Makuta Stone is a shard of the protodermic Toa Seal which imprisoned Makuta Teridax. It was later used to represent him in the legends told by the Turaga of Mata Nui.

History

Metru Nui

The Makuta Stone was carved out of Teridax's Toa Seal by Roodaka in order to free him. The stone fragment remained spiritually linked to the Toa Seal. Roodaka kept the stone in her breastplate and tricked the Toa Hordika into firing their Rhotuka at her, filling the stone with their Elemental Powers. The combined energies in the stone broke the seal and allowed Teridax to escape. Teridax then teleported Roodaka to him, and the stone was left behind with the Toa, where it was claimed by Vakama.[2]

Mata Nui

After the Toa Metru relocated the Matoran of Metru Nui to Mata Nui, the Turaga used the Makuta Stone to tell stories of the past and the legend of Mata Nui.[3]

The Turaga took the stone with them when they returned to Metru Nui. When the Matoran Universe was evacuated, the stone was brought to Spherus Magna.[1]

Set Information

The Makuta stone was included in 40581 BIONICLE Tahu and Takua, represented by four dark grey plates on the top of each other.

Trivia

  • The stone was originally red, like the seal it was taken from, but it turned black after the seal was broken.
