"The Bohrok-Kal raised its greenish metal shield. 'No amount of speed can save you from my magnetic force,' it said coldly as a wave of power rippled out from the shield's surface. Lewa was stopped in place so quickly that he nearly toppled over.'"
— Narrator, Makuta's Revenge

Matoran Universe

In the Matoran Universe, Magnetism is often represented by the Matoran prefix Fa-.[6]

Matoran

  • Fa-Matoran represent the Element of Magnetism. They contain a minuscule amount of Elemental Magnetism Energy, providing them a better sense of direction than other Matoran as well as an internal compass. All Matoran, Toa, and Turaga of Magnetism are male.
  • Toa of Magnetism have the Elemental Power of Magnetism, allowing them to create, control, and absorb magnetism. Their only real limitation is that when they run out of Elemental Magnetism Energy, they must wait for it to recharge.
  • Turaga of Magnetism possess small traces of Elemental Magnetism Energy.

Makuta

Skakdi

  • Skakdi of Magnetism can only access their power if they work with another Skakdi, or if they carry a weapon that allows them to focus their Magnetism power individually.

Examples

Gahlok-Kal's out-of-control Magnetic powers
  • Generating magnetism
    • Generating magnetic energy blasts[7]
    • Generating spheres of magnetic force[8]
  • Manipulating magnetic energy
    • Manipulating metal[9]
      • Manipulating traces of metal in objects or beings[7]
    • Magnetizing metallic objects[9]
      • Magnetizing beings to the ground[10][11]
    • Manipulating magnetism to achieve limited flight[7][12]
    • Using magnetic barriers to shield oneself from physical attacks.[7][13]
  • Absorbing magnetism[14]
  • Unleashing a Magnetism Nova Blast (Toa exclusive)
    • Generating a massive wave of magnetic force[15]

Combinations

  • As long as each of them wields a different Element, providing that Light and Shadow are not included at the same time, any six Toa can create a Protodermis cage.[16] Beings other than Toa and the Krahka cannot combine powers of any sort to create a Protodermis cage.

Trivia

  • Because they were a potential threat to the Makuta's armor, most Toa of Magnetism were killed by the Brotherhood of Makuta,[18][19][20] and Fa-Matoran were kept under close watch.[21] As of the Makuta's invasion of Karda Nui, there was at least one Toa of Magnetism still alive.[17]
  • The prefix "Fa-" was derived from the surname of Michael Faraday, an English scientist who contributed to the field of electromagnetism.[6]

Notes

  1. Though the color scheme of Fa-Matoran has commonly been assumed to be primarily gunmetal gray with black accents, based on the model of Jovan, this may not necessarily be the case.[1][2][3]
