Let The Legend Begin is a promotional game released in 2001.

Gameplay

The main title screen

The player is brought to a main title screen, where they are given the option of choosing one of the six Toa Mata: Pohatu, Onua, Gali, Tahu, Lewa, and Kopaka. On the right of the screen is a condensed version of the Legend of Mata Nui. It also details a competition, which one could enter by completing the game. Once one of the six Toa are selected, an enter button appears, and clicking it brings the player to the game.

The objective of the game is to uncover and match all of the Kanohi tiles. There are sixteen tiles in all, one set for each Great Kanohi of the Toa Mata, and a set for the Noble Ruru and Noble Rau.

If the game is completed in under twenty tries, the player is given the option to enter the competition. The winners received the Toa Mata sets of 2001. If the game is not completed in under twenty tries, an apology message is displayed, and the player can restart the game or go back and choose a different Toa.

Trivia

  • The game contains numerous inconsistencies with later BIONICLE media. The opening screen begins, "Before the beginning of time," instead of "In the time before time." Additionally, the game states that each Toa begins with a "clean" mask and must discover six masks each, when in actuality each Toa already possessed a powered mask and only had to find five others. According to the game, once all the masks are found, each Toa will have access to a "master Mask of Power." These "master" masks correspond to the Golden Kanohi seen in the official story.
