Kivoda, the Protector of Water, is one of six chief elder Protectors, guarding the villages of Water on Okoto.
Biography
Kivoda inherited the position of defending a village in Okoto's Region of Water from his father.[1] He was also told of the Prophecy of Heroes, which his ancestors had learned from the Mask Maker Ekimu after his battle with Makuta, to be recited in times of peril.
Skull Spiders began to menace Okoto. When the stars aligned, as foretold by the Prophecy of Heroes, Kivoda joined the other Protectors at the Temple of Time and recited a prayer. Six Toa then fell from the sky onto Okoto. Kivoda sought out Gali and guided her through the Region of Water for weeks to find the Golden Mask of Water. During the journey, the pair fought many Skull Spiders. Kivoda told Gali about the battle between the Mask Makers Ekimu and Makuta. Gali noticed lava, and Kivoda took her to stay away from it. The pair arrived at the mask's shrine, but they encountered many Skull Spiders guarding it.[2] At the shrine, Kivoda held off a horde of Skull Spiders and was nearly overpowered, but Gali used the Golden Mask to overcome the Skull Spiders. She then departed for the City of the Mask Makers, a journey on which Kivoda informed her that he could not accompany her.
However, Kivoda soon traveled to the city and joined forces with the other Protectors, entering the city by an alternate route so as to come to the aid of the Toa if it were needed. In the process they came across the Region of Jungle archaeologist Harvali, confronted the Lord of Skull Spiders and his hordes, and fought and defeated a group of Skull Warriors. At long last-and in fulfillment of prophecy-they stood before the revived Ekimu, who briefly mistook them for their ancestors from a thousand years previously. They then celebrated the victory of the Toa and welcomed their villagers to the city, which by Ekimu's decree would become their new home.
Abilities and Traits
Kivoda is wise, and has been entrusted with sacred knowledge passed down among the Protectors, such as the Prophecy of Heroes. He gets impatient when his fellow Protectors observe something where they are on an important mission.[3][4]
Kivoda can breathe underwater.[5][2][6]
Mask and Tools
Kivoda wears the Protector Mask of Water, a sacred Elemental Mask forged by Ekimu long ago and passed down through the generations.[1]
Kivoda wields an Elemental Torpedo Blaster. Turbines are attached to Kivoda's shoulders that propel the Protector forward at high speeds.[1] Since Kivoda was almsot blown away by a strong gust of wind under the City of the Mask Makers because of the Turbines, he wants to remember removing the turbines the next time he goes to a windy place.[7]
Set Information
70780 Protector of Water was released in January 2015. The set includes the Protector and a silver Skull Spider. The Protector has shoulder-mounted Turbines and wields an Elemental Torpedo Blaster that fires six shots.
The set can be combined with Gali - Master of Water to create a bigger model.
